SCHOLARSHIP RULES AND PROCEDURES

I SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

  • Sons and daughters of Electrical Industry Service Bureau, Inc. (“EISB”) contributors and sons and daughters of their office personnel.
  • Sons and daughters of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 6 (“Local 6”) members working for contributors, or of deceased members who were in “active” status with a contributing employer as of the date of death.
  • Sons and daughters of: Employees of the San Francisco Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. (“SFECA”), employees of Local 6, employees of EISB and employees of the San Francisco Electrical Apprenticeship Trust.
  • Definition of “contributors”: A contributor is a firm who has made contributions to EISB, Inc. for one full year prior to the date of the scholarship application.
  • All applicants must: have a minimum of 2.5 GPA in their most recent academic endeavor; show evidence of enrollment in a college or university within the United States recognized by the Scholarship Committee prior to award of the scholarship grant (does not include Masters or PHD’s); enrollment in an academic program of an equivalent of at least 12 semester units. The applicant must also submit all application forms and participate in all selection proceedings to be eligible for consideration.
  • Once the interview /exam date(s) have been set there will be no rescheduling
  • Scholarship Grant recipients are not eligible to reapply in future years

II SCHOLARSHIPS

The number and amounts of each Scholarship Grant shall be determined each year.

III SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION

Scholarship selection for eligible applicants shall be based on an essay and oral interview. An essay shall be written by each applicant on a subject to be given on a date specified by the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee shall also conduct oral interviews of eligible applicants on the date of the essay.

IV PROGRAM SCHEDULE

  • Applications will be accepted through a date set by the Scholarship Committee. All applications must be received by the close of business on that date to be eligible.
  • Proof of current enrollment and most recent academic transcript must be in by date set by the Scholarship Committee.
  • All applicants will be assigned a random number to maintain the impartiality of the Scholarship Committee.
  • Applicants will be notified of dates for oral interview and written essays.
  • Recipients of Scholarship Grants will be notified.
